During the last half of last year, a dialogue was initiated between the Prison and Probation Service and the Swedish Textile Service Association to find a viable avenue for cooperation.
The parties agreed that the laundry at the Skogome facility should, to an increased extent, become a subcontractor to professional laundry companies in order to strengthen the rehabilitation of the inmates. Skogome will have the opportunity for long-term production planning. The institution can focus on its mission, rather than spending time on sales of laundry services.
With this as a starting point, the laundry company Skogome has submitted a membership application to the Swedish Textile Service Association, which is the Swedish laundry industry's trade organization. Today, the Laundry Association has both private members and members in county councils, regions and municipalities.
Strong social responsibility
- We welcome everyone who meets the requirements set in our authorization check. All our members are authorized with our T-Brand. This means that they meet the criteria required to guarantee a quality business with good service, our ethical rules and strong social responsibility, says Jan Kluge, chairman of the Swedish Textile Service Association.
ÅF Miljö & Hållbarhet is the Norwegian Laundry Association's partner for authorization control. After visits to the business and after regular sampling, Tvätteriet Skogome has the go-ahead as a new member of the Laundry Association.
Develops the industry
- We welcome Skogome Laundry as a new member, says Jan Kluge. Our ambition is to bring together the authorized professional industry with us regardless of ownership. All good businesses are welcome to contribute to developing the industry's service offerings for the benefit of business and government.
- We look forward to entering the industry community, says Ulrike Junge at the Skogome laundry. It is an opportunity to be able to participate, listen and be able to provide input to further develop the industry. For us this is an opportunity to move forward in our work.
